Your Vehicle Theft Insurance Claim

If your vehicle has been stolen, has yet to be recovered, or is one of an increasing number located in a damaged state, you need to involve your insurance company and get help. You can do much to assist your insurance company and, in turn, yourself.

Your first point of call should be to the HELP page maintained by Claims Management & Adjusting Ltd. Download their ‘checklist’, work your way through the list of items to collate and make a Subject Access Request (SAR) to the police for a copy of the crime report – this is free of charge and must be with your within a calendar month. Your insurers may have to wait a month or more for this – some constabularies (Staffordshire, for example at the time of writing) will not disclose the documents to all insurers.

Not such a straightforward matter as you may think. Our response can be read here.
