Partnership Lead – NPCC Lead for Vehicle Crime
Salary and Working Hours – £55,000-£60,000 dependant on experience. Normal days and hours of work are 35 hours per week between Monday to Friday from 09.00 to 17.00 however you may able expected to work some evenings and weekends subject to the needs of the business. Annual Holidays: 25 days plus all public holidays [33 in total]. Contributory NEST pension scheme contributed to by SBN CIC
This role will require the post holder to work from home, the salary includes an HMRC approved Home Working allowance. Background: The National Police Chiefs Council (NPCC) Lead for Vehicle Crime is working in connection with ‘Safer Business Network CIC’ to establish a National Vehicle Crime Reduction Partnership, representing a proactive and collaborative approach to addressing the growing threat of vehicle crime. By harnessing the collective resources and expertise of law enforcement agencies, the automotive industry, and other stakeholders, the partnership aims to achieve tangible reductions in vehicle crime rates, enhance public safety, and safeguard the interests of communities and businesses nationwide. Through strategic planning, effective implementation, and ongoing evaluation, the partnership will serve as a model for multi-sectoral collaboration in crime prevention and community safety efforts.
The Role:
- Partnership Lead – Reporting to The Operations Director of SBN.
- The lead will be responsible for coordinating work to combat vehicle crime and ensure frequent contact with the tactical lead for policing and progressing the delivery of the National Vehicle Crime Strategy.
- Identifying current and emerging threats though improved information sharing. The lead is to identify and develop new information and intelligence sources
- Police data – PND
- Partner data – Manufacturers, Insurers, Private organisations
- Government – Home Office, ONS
- Developing new analytical tools for industry and police –
- Dashboards with timely data showing spread and patterns of offending e.g. mapping thefts by type, make and model
- Identification/mapping chop shops
- Issuing alerts about developing issues and crime trends
- Building networks and facilitating communication across industry, policing, and government
- Building on work of National Vehicle Crime Working Group working with the strategic and tactical police leads for vehicle crime and other NPCC leads as appropriate to this business area
- Work with Opal, the National Vehicle Crime Intelligence Service (NaVCIS) and other policing bodies
- Timely response to police and partners through a dedicated lead
- Enhancing the operational response to vehicle crime
- Developing capability – identifying and addressing training needs e.g. using industry partners to inform, develop and, when possible, deliver training for police.
- Coordinating activity – Days of action (e.g. with national policing partners), cross-border activity, deployment of specialist resources (e.g. stolen vehicle examiners) to address regional issues
- Funding activity targeting the most prolific or harmful criminal groups
- Identifying, developing and sharing best practice
- Working across police forces and industry
- Developing best practice guide with police and College of Policing
- Developing and coordinating work to remove the profit from vehicle crime
- Attention to online marketplaces – Working with online marketplaces and exploring funding for online research through Opal
- Building public confidence in police and partners
- Increased social-media presence (incl. cross-sharing with partners e.g. NaVCIS)
- Increased availability of crime-prevention advice
- Work with media/PR leads in partner organisations – NPCC, NaVCIS, Police forces, Regional Organised Crime Units, manufacturers, insurers etc.
- Explore technological opportunities to address vehicle crime.
Person Specification:
Essential – criteria:
- Provide evidence of a background in leadership in the police service or similar law enforcement role
- Experience of project and programme development and management and a successful track record of project implementation and sustainability
- Proven track record in dealing with both public and private sectors, preferably (but not essential) at senior level and in the areas of crime reduction, joint working and co-ordinated management
- Excellent communication and presentation skills – both virtual and in-person
- Demonstrate a sustained commitment to deliver partnership priorities while managing and building appropriate relationships, partnerships and networks for the long term
Desirable – criteria
- Knowledge of the law and guidelines relating to intelligence and information sharing
- Knowledge of the of issues relating to vehicle crime and their impact.
