2007 – This group was chaired by Sussex Police, and the secretary for the National Policing Improvement Agency – PNC. Other members represent AVCIS, Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR), Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA), DVLA, the Metropolitan Police and 9 provincial forces.
Terms of Reference were being reviewed.
The core aims of the group are to progress and review all issues surrounding the Vehicles and Property databases on the Police National Computer (PNC). This incorporates any changes to the view screen, guidance on the use of the Police reports and any additional requirements that may be required either for a Policing purpose or Legislation change.
All changes are further progressed up to the next level, Police PNC Policy & Prioritisation Group (P4G) which is currently chaired by Cambridgeshire Police. Once approved at P4G, guidance is issued via Liaison Officer Letters to all Points of Contact in each force. The PNC Manual for vehicles is reviewed and amended twice yearly, and updated with all approved changes.
