- Under what circumstances can a stolen vehicle be seized in your country?
- All reported stolen vehicles are seized in Jordan whether its recorded on local files or INTERPOL data base.
- What channels are used to notify the owner of the vehicle’s location (Interpol or other)?
- NCB Amman is responsible for informing the reporting country through its ncb office in order to notify the owner about the vehicle’s location.
- Who is responsible for the storage of seized vehicles?
- NCB Amman is responsible for the seizure; nevertheless, the stolen vehicles are stored at the customs free zone.
- Are there any costs associated with storage of a seized stolen vehicle and who is responsible for these costs?
- The costs associated with storage must be paid by the owner once the vehicle is recovered.
- How does a stolen vehicle get restored to its legal owner?
 Do the police have authority to restore the vehicle?
- Police will consider restoring the vehicle to its present possessor (in jordan) within specific limited time (minimum two weeks) if the owner (in the reporting country) did not claim for its recovery before our judicial authorities within the appointed time.
Is it the local court who authorizes release of the vehicle?
- The local judicial authorities are responsible for releasing the vehicle in case the owner (in the reporting country) legally claims for its recovery.
Is it necessary to have a “commission rogatoire” to recover the vehicle?
- In case of paragraph (b) above a” commission rogatoire”is necessary once the owner wishes to authorize a legal representative to instigate a claim before our judicial authorities or to recover the seized vehicle.
What documentation does the owner have to provide in order to recover the vehicle?
- The owner should present ownership or registration documents or any other legal documents proving his lawful ownership of the vehicle.
- Are there any time limits associated with recovery of the vehicle? (i.e. after a certain period of time the vehicle becomes the property of the state or police, etc.)?
- As mentioned in paragraph (5. A), yet, there is no time limit when the cases are referred to our judicial authorities (as in paragraph 5. B).

- Each case defers from another since it depends on our judicial authorities decision.
