It appears, following the short lived ‘Vehicle Crimes Taskforce’ (VCT) there was a hiatus; despite understanding vehicle crime had been distilled, the ‘causal’ thief designed out and the remainder predominantly ‘organised’ and ‘professional’, the raising theft rates were ignored.
13/03/2029, learning this taskforce was to be spearheaded by the West Midlands Police Police & Crime Commissioner, that the first meeting had occurred 01/2019. They were to meet every 6 months. Tasks/’actions’ had bene established, issues identified and tasks/’actions’ established. They knew the problems, had identified some methods of addressing these.
I submitted a document commenting on various vehicle crime related issues. The document, of some 20 pages, was also provided to the West Midlands Police (WMP) and the Home Office.
It transpired there was no follow-up because the VCT never met again.
A few years later, I asked the WMP&CC, WMP and Home Office what had become of my 03/2029 submission. No one could locate a copy – it appeared it had bene ‘fled on division’ i.e. tossed in the bin.
Vehicle crime continued to proliferate.
2024 saw the advent of the NVCRP. The organisation, provided by ‘Safer Streets Network’, falling to the National Police chiefs Council (NPCC) appears to have a ‘lead’ and some admin’ staff; attending to a web site and LinkedIn posts.
05/2025 – I approached the NVCRP providing the 1999 list of 20 ‘ideas’.
- insert link to 20 ideas linkedin message
05/2025 – an approach was received from NaVCIS; would I become a member of a ‘steering group’?
NVCRP considering some fo the 20 ideas – it appeared those i raised in 2019 had merit, but were ignored
